Mixing Huawei R4850G2 and R4875G1 in one shelf
They fit the same slot, which is exactly why this question comes up. Fitting and working correctly are different things.
The difference that matters
The designations encode the output current: the R4850G2 is the 50 A class module and the R4875G1 is the 75 A class. Same 48 V bus, same family of shelves, different rated output. Physical interchangeability is not the constraint — what the plant does with two different ratings in parallel is.
Three things that have to agree before you mix
1. Load sharing. Modules in parallel share the load; a well-behaved plant holds the spread within a few percent of maximum current across the working range. Mixing ratings means the two module types reach their limits at different points, so the margin you think you have at full load is not the margin you actually have. 2. Plant capacity in the controller. The controller is configured with the plant's rated capacity and the number of modules. Mixing ratings changes total capacity, and if the controller's configuration is not updated the alarm thresholds and any charge-current limit are computed from a number that is no longer true. 3. Protection sizing. Breakers and cabling on the DC side are sized for a rated output. A higher-rated module in a slot wired for a lower one is a change to the protection design, not a swap.
The honest recommendation
As an emergency measure to get a site back up, a mixed shelf is often survivable and is better than a dark site. As a permanent configuration it is a design decision that has to be documented: capacity re-entered in the controller, protections re-checked and the mix recorded in the site file, so that the next technician does not read the shelf as homogeneous. What we will not do is tell you it is a drop-in, because that is how a temporary fix quietly becomes an undocumented plant.

The exact module designations already in the shelf, the shelf and controller model, the controller firmware version, and the site load in amps. Those five items are enough to say whether the mix is safe as-is, safe after a configuration change, or not advisable.

Will the plant reject a module of a different rating?
Not necessarily — it may accept it and run. The risk is not usually rejection, it is silent mis-configuration: the controller keeps computing limits and alarms from a plant capacity that no longer matches what is installed.
Is it better to fill a shelf with one rating?
For a permanent installation, yes. A homogeneous shelf keeps load sharing, capacity configuration and protection sizing consistent, and it removes an entire class of surprise for whoever works on the site next.
